We know that babies have an extremely sensitive skin that can not be compared to ours. Therefore, it needs special protection and care, starting with the washing of baby clothes. These must be – especially in the first few months – perfectly clean and without any impurities left to avoid skin irritation and rashes. So what should be considered when washing baby clothes? We have put together a few tips for you.
Wash baby clothes separately
Let’s start with the basics, those tips that may seem banal at first glance. This includes the advice not to wash your baby’s laundry with yours. This significantly reduces the risk of skin irritation and rashes. To make it easier you might want to keep your baby’s laundry in a separate laundry basket.
Use baby-specific detergent
Not all detergents are suitable for baby clothes, so you should be careful to choose a baby-specific one. These normally don’t contain any softener and are based on a special active formula, such as our Almacabio baby laundry detergent. It guarantees fibre-deep clean laundry and has an antibacterial effect without, however, containing aggressive substances that could harm your baby’s skin.
Use natural products
Also recommended is the use of natural products in addition to detergents, as they provide a natural way for clean, antibacterial and soft laundry. A little bicarbonate is enough to increase the antibacterial effect of detergents. A drop of vinegar has the same effect as a fabric softener. And powder, flour or lemon juice are very effective against stains.
Consider double rinse
You might want to turn on an extra rinse cycle to be sure all of the detergent is removed from the clothes. This prevents your baby’s skin from coming into contact with detergent, which in turn can irritate its sensitive skin or trigger allergic reactions. So play it safe with the double-rinsing.
